Weekend party at Head Lake Park for Dysart’s 150th birthday

There will be a weekend long celebration at Head Lake Park for Dysart’s 150th birthday.

It starts Friday with a camp fire sing along in the park and Canadian trivia at 6:30.

The Haliburton Highlands Museum has a big hand in the weekend.

Museum Director Kate Butler says Saturday will feature food and music.

Butler mentions Sunday will be about active living.

Friday, July 7, 2017

  • Campfire sing-a-long 6:30 – 8:30 pm
  • Kids’ songs start at 6:30 pm, sing-a-long at 7:00 pm – Song sheets will be provided, bring your own instrument.  Campfire with marshmallows and s’mores. Our goal is to have at least 150 people singing, playing musical instruments and enjoying the evening.  To ensure that your favourite song is played/sung please submit the name of the song and artist to: [email protected].  A song book comprised of all the submissions will be prepared for the attendees of the campfire.
  • • Into the Blue Pizza 6:00 – 10:00 pm
  • • Haliburton Canadian Trivia 8:30 – 10:00 pm
  • Beer tent – 6:00 – 10:00 pm, come try the specially created “Skipping Stone Kolsch” prepared by Highlands Brewing for Canada’s and Dysart’s 150th birthdays.

  • • Family picnic at Head Lake Park – bring your own lunch or purchase lunch from the various food vendors. Some treats will be provided free of charge to picnic goers.
  • Summer Literacy: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Haliburton Lions present stories in the park & a Little Free LIbrary

  • • Highland Boat Tours 10 am – 2 pm
  • • Displays and booths depicting adventure in Haliburton County
  • • Taosit Tai Chi Society Workshops 11:00 am & 1:30 pm
  • • Documentary detailing Haliburton’s history –
  • • Beer tent from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm – come taste the signature brew that Haliburton Highlands Brewery has created for Dysart’s 150th birthday
  • • FREE CONCERT 7:00 – 10:30 pm – Cassidy Glecoff, Bill Candy, Arden & the Tourists

  • Paddling Head Lake – bring your canoe, paddleboard, kayak or pedal boat to Head Lake and be one of 150 people paddling on the lake at the same time
  • • Beach volleyball tournament
