O.P.P. urges motorists not to drive under the influence after five suspects charged in the last two weeks

The Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. wants to remind motorists not to drive impaired.

Over the last two weeks, the O.P.P. has charged five motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Community Safety Officer Dianna Dauphinee says the penalties are severe if you are caught driving under the influence.

Dauphinee also says you can be charged for impaired driving using legal drugs like painkillers.

She also says the penalties for driving under the influence of drugs are the same as driving drunk.
