Haliburton residents weigh-in on proposed changes to drinking and driving laws

Haliburton residents seem to have mixed feelings about whether or not drinking and driving laws should be stricter. This comes after information was released the Federal Justice Minister has suggested lowering the maximum legal blood alcohol level from 0.08 per cent to 0.05 per cent across Canada. This would be done to combat impaired driving.

The My Haliburton Now news room hit the streets to find out if the community thinks the maximum legal level should be dropped to 0.05 per cent.

The community was also asked what they would do to make drinking and driving laws stricter.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, those who test over the legal limit of 0.08 per cent can face charges, fines, a 90-day license suspension, and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
