UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm wacth issued for Haliburton County, and some homes without power

Update: The severe thunderstorm watch has ended. There are still around 20 homes without power on County Road 21 just west of the Village of Haliburton. Around 20 customers are also affected along Highway 118 in the Maple Lake area.

 

Environment Canada says Haliburton County is under a severe thunderstorm watch.

According to the report, the watch is expected to end by either the late afternoon or early evening.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for a storm that could cause hail and torrential rain.

There are also a couple of power outages in the area according to Hydro One.

Under 20 homes are without power along County Road 21 just west of the Village of Haliburton.

Hydro One is estimating a time of 2:45 p.m. for the restoration of service.

The map also shows less than 20 homes just south of Maple Lake along Highway 118 without power.

Hydro One expects power to be restored there by 1:30 p.m.
