News Sears BBQ raising ten times more than last year for Food for Kids SHARE ON: Smith Autumn, contributor, Friday, May. 30th, 2014 This year’s Food for Kids fundraising BBQ raised ten times more than last year. Sears Haliburton raised three thousand dollars and today, Sears Canada District Manager for Ontario East, Angela Anstey presented a cheque matching every penny. Arron Walker from Food for Kids Haliburton says the Steering Committee was speechless after hearing the good news. He says every day the program provides over 1200 kids with nutritious food in Haliburton County. Owner of Sears Haliburton, Adrian Vargas says they were blown away by the amount of community support. Anstey says the company was happy to support the hard work Adrian and Wendy put in to coordinating the event. Local business people were providing services at the BBQ as well and Vargas says one hundred percent of everything raised went to the Program. The Food for Kids Program requires $75,000 a year to operate, and they are responsible for raising $40,000 of that on their own.
