McClintock Lagoon closer to expansion

The McClintock Septage Lagoon expansion is one step closer to becoming reality.

Algonquin Highlands council approved an environmental assessment of the lagoon, which includes consultations with Ontario’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, as Natural Resources and Forestry.

Mayor Carol Moffatt says the assessment that would have cost over $41,000 was included in the 2017 budget draft.

Moffatt says council feels more confident going forward knowing the province is willing to sell the land for the lagoon expansion.

Part of the assessment will be done this year, and the rest will be done next year.

The township will split the cost nearly in-half between this year and next.
