Jamie Schmale’s “Save the Walleye” petition close to 800 signatures

Jamie Schmale is continuing to fight to save the walleye population in Haliburton County.

The Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Brock M.P. now has nearly 800 signatures on an online petition he launched just over three months ago.

The petition is calling on the Ministry of Natural Resources and Fisheries to take action.

Schmale says local anglers have a suggestion to protect the walleye.

He adds the local economy relies heavily on tourism, much of which comes from fishing.

Schmale will be on the Natural Resources Committee when Parliament is back on September 18^th.
