Potential title change for Minden Hills’ head of council on the agenda for next council meeting

Minden Hills Council will be discussing a proposed change to the Reeve’s title at its next meeting.

Minden’s Committee of the Whole voted to include the discussion at the meeting set for September 28^th.

Current Reeve Brent Devolin says people have asked him what a Reeve is and if it is any different than a mayor.

According to Ontario’s Municipal Act, there is no difference between a mayor and reeve, which are titles for heads of council.

In July, Algonquin Highlands Council voted to change Carol Moffatt’s title from reeve to mayor.
