Land along Dark Lake officially dedicated as Herlihey Park

Herlihey Park is now a reality in Wilberforce.

Highlands East dedicated an approximately seven acre piece of land along Dark Lake yesterday.

Residents Carol and Karl Marcus donated around $400,000 to the municipality to purchase the land.

Carol Marcus says she is happy to donate to the community she grew up in, and have the park named after her parents.

Marcus’ parents are Beatrice and Harold Herlihey.

Highlands East Reeve Dave Burton says planning the park will be a long-term project.

Marcus and Burton said they look forward to public input on what the park will look like.
