Ontario’s Attorney General closed the court until July of next year. Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Brock M.P.P. Laurie Scott launched a petition in April asking Attorney General Yasir Naqvi to overturn the decision. Scott says the request fell on deaf ears. //www.myhaliburtonnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/LS-1.mp3 In a letter to Scott, Naqvi said the province needs to hire 43 Justices of the Peace for Ontario, including eight in the Central East region, which includes Haliburton County. In his response, Naqvi added that it would not be appropriate for his office to get involved.
