The Chamber of Commerce wants people to “vote for prosperity”

The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce is calling on the county to vote for prosperity.

The Haliburton chamber released a report with its Ontario counterpart looking at priorities for the business community for the June provincial election.

One aspect of the report is building healthy communities, which includes affordable housing.

Haliburton Chamber President Richard Wannan says finding rental properties in the county is a challenge.

Another pillar of the report is better government accountability.

Wannan says that means the province needs to listen to the people before putting forward legislation.

Bill 148 would see the minimum wage jump to $15 an hour by January 1st of 2019.

In a previous report, the Haliburton chamber stated that 190 would be at risk if that bill passes.
