Haliburton County’s Tourism Committee is gearing up for Hike Haliburton this year. At the last meeting, Director of Tourism Amanda Ranson informed the committee that only 46 per cent of sponsorships have been received.

Committee members discussed at length ideas on how to scale back the event in case full sponsorship wouldn’t be reached. Members unanimously agreed efforts will be taken to make sure the event runs at its full capacity before deciding to scale back.

Ranson said the event is the largest hiking event in Canada and that’s something they should be proud of. It was clear that none of the hiking events would be scaled back, but in the event changes did need to occur, extra elements like live music would be discussed to possibly cut back.
