The Kawartha Lakes O.P.P. is warning residents of a scam making its rounds.

The detachment says it was told by a resident that he or she was scammed out of nine thousand dollars.

The O.P.P. says the victim took a call from someone who says his name is Alex Gills, a security specialist from a large bank.

The caller apparently says he was investigating possible fraudulent activity on the resident’s bank account.

The victim gave his credit card information and made a series of transfers totaling over $9,000.

The Kawartha Lakes detachment is urging residents to hang up immediately if they receive these types of calls.
