Algonquin Highlands supports new digital tourism kiosk

Algonquin Highlands council has committed to providing $5,000 to the Dorset Community Partnership. Council put the item in this year’s budget and was waiting on confirmation for the project.

Collin Reaney, from the Dorset Community Partnership, and Stefan Szczerbak from the Township of Lake of Bays spoke at the June 19 council meeting about the project for a digital tourism kiosk. The first kiosk was already funded and was revealed in Dorset over the weekend. Algonquin Highlands councilors approved the funding to go toward the kiosk that will be the first touch screen kiosk in Muskoka and Haliburton County.

The kiosk will highlight community assets, attractions, services and businesses. Reaney said the kiosk will be about cross-community promotion to get more people to come to the area and stay longer.
