Dysart approves application submission for solar projects

Dysart council has approved supporting solar projects in the municipality. Council heard from Green Life Power at yesterday’s council meeting. The company requested support to install four solar projects at locations approved by the land owner. The locations include properties on Hilltop road, Highway 118, County Road 6, and Kennisis Lake Road.

Each project will be required to follow strict restrictions and guidelines laid out by the FIT program and the Ontario Power Authority. One of the mandates is that the panel is not visible from the road, or to neighbouring property owners. According to representatives from Green Life Power, one site can power 50-100 homes.

After discussion around ownership, company interest, disposal and maintenance, council agreed to support an application to Ontario Power Authority.

Green Life Power made the same request to Minden Hills council at the June 12 Committee of the Whole Meeting. That council will vote whether or not to support the application at the June 26 council meeting.
