Algonquin Highlands looking to push Stanhope Soccer Program even further

Future soccer stars may be coming out Stanhope.

Algonquin Highlands is applying for a provincial grant to upgrade the Stanhope Soccer Program’s field.

The enhancements will include 12 new soccer nets as well as putting coaches through the National Coaching Certification Program training.

The total cost is estimated at $4,595 and 80 per cent of that would be covered by the grant, while the remainder would be paid for by Algonquin highlands.

The grant would come from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund.

Mayor Carol Moffatt says the township has been successful when applying for this grant in the past.

The soccer program is for children between the ages of 5-14.
