Dysart applies for grant to support after-school recreation and tennis programs

Dysart et al is looking to create recreational programming for children in grades one to three.

Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator Andrea Mueller says the after-school program would run from 3:15 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. at Stuart Baker Elementary.

Mueller adds the municipality is applying for a $15,000 grant from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund.

She adds based on a survey, there is a demand for any programming that promotes physical activity in the community for elementary school children.

If Dysart gets the grant, Mueller says a spring and summer tennis program for youth would be implemented at Head Lake Park.

She mentions that dates for any programming will be finalized if the grant is approved.
