Minden Hills Director of Finance, Lorrie Blanchard has been voted in as the new CAO for Minden Hills. Council held a special meeting this morning and decided to create the position of CAO/Treasurer/Clerk for Blanchard.
In the open session, Councilor Larry Clarke cast the only vote against the decision, saying it was not a reflection of Blanchard’s ability to do the job. Clarke says he in confident in Blanchard’s abilities to carry out the job, but felt it should be on an interim basis until a proper job description can be decided upon. Â Clarke said the process was circumventing HR policies and procedures.
Clarke went on to say he believed council was in violation of the Municipal Act and should be under the scrutiny of the commissioner.
