NewsH.H.O.A. and Dorset Lions Club receive grant money from Ottawa SHARE ON: Kenny Trenton, contributor, Tuesday, Jan. 16th, 2018 Photo: Supplied by Haliburton Highlands Outdoors AssociationThe Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association is getting some money from the federal government.The H.H.O.A. is getting $24,862 towards starting an outdoors program for seniors.The New Horizons for Seniors grant was created to encourage more seniors to be active and participate in the workforce.The funding comes from the Ministry of Labour.The Dorset Lions Club has also received money from the same grant.The club is getting $25,000 towards the creation of its Centennial Park project. The park will be an outdoor place for children to play and families to gather.According to M.P. Jamie Schmale, businesses and not-for-profit groups in the riding received a total of $219,857.
