Internet Service Provider looking to lease space on Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower

An internet service provider is looking to bring more high speed to Dorset.

Xplornet is asking Algonquin Highlands council if it can add equipment to the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower.

According to the proposal, Xplornet is prepared to lease space on the tower for $6,000 a year for 10 years.

Mayor Carol Moffatt says Highlands Internet Service only provides access to only a handful of residents and businesses in Dorset.

Moffatt adds council discussed building a tower deep in the woods for I.S.P. companies but isn’t in support of that idea.

Moffatt mentions that council still needs to make a decision on the proposal and that could happen at February’s council meeting.
