Minden Hills talking about a bylaw for seasonally maintained roads

Minden Hills is considering a bylaw that would mandate the maintenance of seasonally maintained roads.

According to the draft bylaw shown to council yesterday, seasonally maintained roads are considered class six roads, which means there are no minimum maintained standards required by the province.

Mayor Brent Devolin says the two goals of a bylaw would be to set a standard for the approximately 20 kilometres of roads in question and avoid any future lawsuits.

Devolin also says to get a better understanding of these roads, he will personally go for a look.

The current practice is to close the roads for the winter and open them on Victoria Day Weekend.
