Highlands East’s Mayor wants everyone to be held to similar standards.
Dave Burton was referring to a perspective bylaw that would see the regulation of travel trailers on vacant land.
According to a report shown to council on Wednesday, the bylaw department is finding many landowners living in trailers while waiting to build a home.
Burton says he feels some rules are needed.
Although permit fees for the trailers was not brought up in this meeting, council floated the idea of between $800 to $1,000.
Burton says the goal of a perspective bylaw is to make sure owners of vacant lots follow the same rules as homeowners.
Burton says a draft bylaw could be in front of council at next month’s meeting.
