Taxes likely to increase for Algonquin Highlands residents

Algonquin Highlands residents will likely be reaching deeper into their pockets to pay their tax bills.

Council held round one of budget talks today and the 2018 municipal levy will increase by 3.79 per cent.

What that means is an increase for residents of $2.14 per $100,000 of assessed property value.

Nearly 60 per cent of the increase is attributed to an over $100,000 in O.P.P. costs.
