Stanhope Soccer Program registration to open next month

It’s a small sign that spring is almost here!

The Stanhope Soccer Program will be opening registration on March 13^th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

There will also be a registration session on March 24^th from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and both dates will be at the Stanhope Firefighters’ Community Hall.

Algonquin Highlands applied for a grant under the Ontario Sport and Recreation Community Fund to buy 12 new nets as well as get coaches certified under the National Coaching Certification Program.

The total cost is $4,595 and the grant would cover 80 per cent of that with the township on the hook for the remainder.

Township Parks, Recreation and Trails Manager, Chris Card says he hopes to learn if the grant request was successful by the end of March.

The Stanhope Soccer Program is for children between the ages of 5 and 14.
