Algonquin Outfitters wants to bring more recreation to Head Lake Park.

Algonquin Outfitters Regional Manager, Randy Pielsticker made a pitch to Dysart et al council on Monday offering bike and paddle boat rentals, such as canoes and kayaks.

The proposal calls for rentals to be offered on weekends, holidays and for special events from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from June to September.

Pielsticker says the municipality could profit in this initiative.

Pielsticker adds he had an experience on Head Lake with a stand up paddle board last summer that inspired this idea.

Pielsticker also says he wants others to be able to enjoy a similar experience.

Mayor Murray Fearrey says he likes the idea but that he doesn’t want to see the park become too congested.

Council didn’t make a decision on the proposal at the meeting.
