With tax season almost here, Jamie Schmale is asking residents to be aware of potential scams.

The Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Brock M.P. says his office has gotten numerous calls about people being scammed out of their personal information.

Schmale says the Canada Revenue Agency will never ask for personal information via email or leave information on an answering machine.

He adds one question to ask yourself if you are unsure of who is contacting you is asking for information that you wouldn’t include on a tax return.

Schmale also says if you suspect you are the victim of a C.R.A. fraud, you should call the Haliburton Highlands O.P.P at 1 888 310-1122.
