Algonquin Highlands, Xloprnet agree to 10-year deal to provide high speed internet to all of Dorset

High speed internet access will soon be available to all residents in the Dorset area.

Algonquin Highlands and Xplornet Communications agreed to a 10-year deal that will allow the internet company to set up its equipment on the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower.

The money for the township will come out to $7,800 for the first year with a two per cent increase each year after.

That is more than the $6,000 previously offered by Xplornet.

Mayor Carol Moffatt gives Parks, Recreation and Trails Manager, Chris Card, credit for his work on this file.

The current I.S.P. in the area isn’t able to offer high speed internet to all residents.

Xplornet hopes to have its equipment in place by the end of March.
