The province will not be helping Highlands East repair a road in the municipality.
Last year, Highlands East applied for $2 million from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund to realign Dyno Road.
Realigning a road is doing work that will make the road less bumpy for drivers.
Council learned this week the request was denied.
Mayor Dave Burton says the municipality budgeted $50,000 this year for an environmental and engineering assessment.
Burton adds work on the road will start next year even without provincial assistance.
Burton adds that $600,000 will be spent next year to improve Dyno Road.
