County to replace white emergency lights with blue lights on ambulances

If you see blue and red lights flashing, it may not be the police.

Haliburton County is considering replacing the white emergency lighting on its ambulances with blue lights.

Chief of Paramedic Services, Tim Waite, says a blue and red flashing combination will make it easier for people to identify emergency vehicles.

C.A.O. Mike Rutter says the lights will be added to new ambulances the county purchases and the extra cost is $326 per ambulance.

A recent amendment to the Highway Traffic Act allows red and blue lighting on emergency vehicles.
