A winter storm warning is in effect for the Haliburton area.

Environment Canada warns the area could see up to 20cm of snow falling by the end of today. Meteorologists say the snow should stop falling by Saturday night, but will switch to freezing drizzle.

It will be gusty today as well with winds getting up to 60km/h causing blowing snow throughout the day.

Environment Canada has also issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Sunday for Haliburton. Meteorologists expect a significant amount of ice build-up across the district as freezing rain is expected to fall most of the day.
