Highlands East encouraging residents to help clean up the community

Highlands East residents are being invited to help clean the municipality this weekend.

The municipality is holding community clean-up eventsĀ on Saturday, and asking residents to spend some time picking up trash that’s been left behind after the winter. Deputy Reeve and Haliburton County Warden Suzanne Partridge says it’s shocking how much litter there is.

Bags and gloves will be given to anyone taking part in the clean-up event. Partridge says it’s easy to get rid of bags of trash once they’re filled.

If you want to take part, you can meet up at the fire hall in Cardiff, Gooderham, Wilberforce, or Paudash. The event starts atĀ 10:00amĀ and runs untilĀ noon tomorrow

Meanwhile, the annual Mark McGhee Pitch-in Day is also happening in BancroftĀ on Sunday. It starts atĀ 10:00amĀ on SundayĀ in Millennium Park.
