Environment Canada holding event to train weather spotters in Bark Lake next weekend

Environment Canada is looking for Haliburton residents to help predict the weather. Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says he will be hosting a Can Warn training event at the Bark Lake Leadership and Conference Centre next Saturday morning. Coulson says anyone attending this free event will learn what to look for in the sky to make the weather service aware of what could be on the horizon.

Coulson adds Environment Canada gets many e-mails and social media hits from people but mentions that the credibility of a photo or a report from a Can Warn trained weather spotter carries more weight.

If you are interested in attending the training, it will be on May 12th from 9:30 a.m. to around noon according to Coulson. If you want to register for the training, you can e-mail [email protected]
