Highlands East will be continuing with its septic re-inspection program this summer. The initiative started last year with the help of summer students, who managed to inspect 903 systems last year.

Council accepted Chief Building Official Laure Devolin’s recommendation to hire two summer students to help with the effort. Devolin adds the two new students will perform the tasks of a sewage disposal system maintenance inspector.

The purpose of the program is to have property owners update obsolete septic systems. The students start their jobs on Monday.
