Minden Hills doing comprehensive study on seasonally maintained roads

Minden Hills is doing a review on its seasonally maintained roads. Council was shown a list of seasonally maintained roads that get private winter maintenance. That is 12 roads with a total distance of just under 20 kilometres.

Mayor Brent Devolin says this is the early stages of the township coming up with rules and regulations for seasonally maintained roads. He adds that it seems like there are different standards for different roads and would like to see the same regulations all over Minden. Devolin also says residents will get to have their input at a future date.

Devolin mentions that he and members of council make it a point to personally inspect these roads every year with the township’s Roads Superintendent.

Some of the roads are maintained privately but according to a report shown to council, there is a risk of legal trouble, even if the township did not maintain the road.
