Muskoka officials are continuing to inspect beaches in the area as part of a public safety initiative.
In Bracebridge, town staff is visiting area beaches daily to inspect sand and the water for any hazardous materials. The town has been utilizing summer students, volunteers and by-law officers to complete these inspections. Metal detectors are also being used for a thorough search.
This comes after hazardous materials like broken glass was discovered in the sand at beaches in Bracebridge and Gravenhurst. Muskoka officials have been working with the OPP as part of an ongoing investigation.
