This Sunday will see the annual monarch butterfly release.
This event, put on by the Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association and SIRCH Community services, is a fundraiser for the fish restocking program, and a variety of children’s programs SIRCHÂ puts on.
During Monarchs and Music, people will be given the chance to release butterflies to raise money. Although the gate cost is $15 anyone looking to release can purchase them for $30 a butterfly.
The event begins at 11 am and goes until 7 pm with the release of the butterflies happening at 3:30. following the release attendees can expect a full concert featuring seven local acts. There will be a shuttle from the high school to the hatchery on Gelert Road starting at 10:30 am.
