Funding from the Ministry of Education to the City of Kawartha Lakes has resulted in twenty-three child care spots being added to the Compass Early Learning and Care Centre in Minden.

The province gave CKL – $750,000 that will bring the centre’s total availability to 48 spots. The extra spots provided are made up of ten infant spots, five toddlers and eight pre-schoolers.

The extra spaces in Minden will not be available until the end of the September.

Rod Sutherland, director of human services, said both Minden and Bobcaygeon, where 25 spots were just added, “were in high need of additional child care spaces.”
