Military exercises in Stanhope

Algonquin Highlands will be playing host to some special guests this weekend.

Members of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting exercises in Stanhope. Although the exercises are not open to the public, residents, cottagers, and anyone that might see helicopters above their homes or lakes are encouraged to wave at them says Carol Moffatt the Mayor of Algonquin Highlands.

The helicopters will be practicing daytime patrols from Saturday to next Friday, Moffatt asks the public to be patient with the noises associated with the exercises and that Algonquin Highlands is proud and honoured to host these exercises.

The exercises are based out of Stanhope Airport, the public is asked to avoid the area as it will be restricted access until the exercises are complete
