Kennisis Lake Septic needs some work says Dysart inspectors

several homes and cottages on Kennisis Lake need some minor repairs.

As of December 2017, Dysart enacted a By-Law that requires all properties within 100 feet of a lake to get a septic re-inspection done by a licensed inspector regularly.

The Kennisis Lake Cottage Owners Association says that they hosted a septic inspection open house in June to discuss the importance of proper septic care and the impact on the lakes. Some septic systems need minor repairs and some need more expensive repairs.

Karl Korpela the Chief Building Official for Dysart says that most septic failures are unseen until an inspection is done. And the leading cause of septic failure is the system is too small for the number of bedrooms.

Septic system inspections on Kennisis, Little Kennisis, Paddy’s Bay, and Kelly Lake must be completed by 2019.
