That’s according to the Haliburton Lake Cottagers’ Association.

According to the HLCA, bears were spotted on Fort Irwin Road, Dow Trail, Curry Road, and Ross Lake. It appears to be small to medium-sized bears, says the HLCA.

The Ministry of Natural Resources says that the best way to reduce bear sightings is to put your garbage in sealed containers, as well as any ripe fruit or pet food. The MNRF also says that disinfecting the garbage and recycle bins is a good idea.
