Health unit offering free nicotine patches

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Health Unit is looking to curb smoking.

HKPR is offering to help smokers shake their habit by offering free nicotine patches through the S.T.O.P program. Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients is a no-charge session hosted by the health unit. If a person qualifies they can get nicotine replacement therapy that would see the use of nicotine gum, patches, or lozenges rather then smoking an actual cigarette.

Residents of Haliburton County looking to quit smoking can call the local Family Health Team at (705)-457-1212 for support and guidance if they’re in need of someone to talk to.

Although the majority of S.T.O.P. sessions have already happened, the next session will be in Kawartha Lakes August 15th. You can call 1-866-888-4577 Ext 2202
