The OPP has one message for you this long weekend: move over.
Police will be out on Cottage Country highways looking for drivers that aren’t following the slow down, move over law. OPP Central Region Sergeant Peter Leon says the law has been around for years, but drivers still seem to forget when passing emergency vehicles.
Leon says it’s a simple rule to follow.
If you can’t move over, Leon says you must slow down and pass safely. The law was created to protect emergency workers from being hit by passing vehicles.
