OPP Investigating Suspected Drowning on Black Lake

The Haliburton Highlands OPP is investigating what it believed to be the drowning death of a man in Dysart et al.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to Black Lake Thursday after reports of a 72-year-old man fell into the water from a boat while fishing with a 16-year-old. The OPP reports that the man was pulled from the water and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man was later identified as Douglas McCabe of Dysart.

A family member of McCabe’s has since reached out to the My Haliburton Now newsroom.  The family member reported that an initial autopsy report on McCabe showed he had suffered a heart attack, rather than drowning.
