Haliburton County council is being called on to create a food security plan. The poverty reduction strategy for the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County is looking for council to move forward with economic development and create policies. According to their report, almost 60 per cent of zero to six year olds living in lone parent families live in poverty in Haliburton County.
