Minden’s Terry Fox run has raised close to $216,000 to date, but Terry isn’t the only person they honour. Committee Chair Diane Peacock says proceeds from the silent auction will once again go toward the foundation in memory of Dawson Hamilton. They’ve been doing that since 2010 and have raised about $7000 in his memory. She says he always participated in the run, so this is one way they say thank you.
The event is also celebrating 21 years in Minden, and Peacock says they have plans to recognize some volunteers who have dedicated their time since the beginning.
The run will be at the Minden Arena on September 14. Registration is at 9:00 and the run starts at 9:30. There will be live music and a BBQ. Peacock says anyone is welcome, even if you aren’t interested in running, spectators can come and support throughout the day.
