Parkinson’s SuperWalk Coming to Head Lake Park

Haliburton’s Head Lake Park will be the location of a fundraising effort.

Parkinson’s Canada announced the locations for their nationwide fundraising event. SuperWalk will be in the area Saturday, September 16th. Runners here in the county will be joining over 10,000 participants and 4,000 fundraising walkers across the country.

SuperWalk has raised $37 million since the first walk took place in 1990, and $27 million of that has gone into 527 separate research projects.

Parkinsons is a debilitating disease that causes tremors, impaired balance, and fatigue among other things. Currently, there is no cure for Parkinson’s and the effects of the disease worsen over time. Parkinson’s Canada says that although physical, voice, and occupational therapy help. more research must be done to combat the disease.
