Rabies is problematic for people and pets alike.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Health Unit announced on Twitter that in “late September” they will be hosting vaccination clinics, offering low-cost rabies vaccines for your pets.
The clinic does not have a date as of yet, but they will be giving people a chance to protect their pet for one-third of the cost of getting the vaccine through a privatized veterinarian. On average rabies vaccines can range from $45 to $80 for the once a year shot.
HKPR encourages keeping your pet’s vaccinations up to date and stresses that rabies if untreated is almost always fatal.
