The Apple Sauce Project is Back

SIRCH Community Kitchen is collecting apples for a good cause.

The Apple Sauce Project is a yearly event that has volunteers collecting and using apples from local trees to make apple sauce. Once the apple sauce is made it is frozen and taken to senior citizens and families in need.

SIRCH is encouraging anyone with apples they would like to donate to drop them off at SIRCH Central on 2 Victoria Street in Haliburton between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

The Apple Sauce Project starts Monday. Organizers are asking anyone who wants to pick apples to get in touch with Nancy Brownsberger at 705-457-2941 ext 2926 or if you want to help make the apple sauce itself you can call Jay McIvor at 705-457-1742.

Collecting apples happens next week, with the making of the sauce happening Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th. Once the sauce is made Meals on Wheels will be distributing it around the county.
