Severe thunderstorms could be on the way.

Haliburton, Minden, and southern Haliburton County as well as Oxtongue Lake, Fort Irwin and northern Haliburton County are under a severe thunderstorm watch today.

Environment Canada says that conditions are favourable to form severe thunderstorms. Severe storms bring with them the risk of high winds, torrential downpour and washed out roads. Another risk of severe thunderstorms is the potential for tornadoes and lightning.

As always, Environment Canada says “when thunder roars, go indoors.”

The My Haliburton Now Newsroom is monitoring the situation and will keep you updated.
