Haliburton County municipal election: What you need to know

Nominations for the municipal election close today. People have until 2:00 p.m. to submit their forms. A full list of candidates can be found by clicking here.

To make sure you’re on the voters list, contact your municipal office. Instructions on how to vote in your municipality can be found below. Election Day is October 27.

Municipality of Dysart

Voter Kits will be mailed out to electors by the end of the month. For information on how to cast your ballot, click here. If you do not receive a kit by October 10, you can pick one up from the Municipal office, or contact the Clerk, Cheryl Coulson. Voters will have until 8:00 on Election Day to cast their vote.

Township of Algonquin Highlands

Voter kits will be mailed out to electors on September 29. Once you receive your kit, you can cast your vote and put it in the mail or drop it off at the municipal office.

Township of Minden Hills

Internet and telephone voting will be available this year along with paper ballots at a voting location in the township. You can find more detailed information on telephone and internet voting by clicking here. Eligible voters will receive an information letter in the mail which will arrive the week of October 1. Telephone and internet voting can start on October 10. You can vote in person by going to the Community Centre for the  Advance Poll, October 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or on Voting Day, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.   Telephone and Internet voting will also be available at the Community Centre those two dates. The Election Help/Revision Centre will be open at the municipal office, 7 Milne Street during regular business hours and will also be open to assist/do revisions on Saturday, October 11, 18 and 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Just note there will not be any paper ballot voting take place at the Help/Revision Centre – but telephone/internet voting will be available.

Municipality of Highlands East

Each eligible elector will receive a vote by mail kit that they can mail back to Highlands East or drop off at the Ward 1 office, Building Department in Gooderham or drop off at the main office in Wilberforce. Voters will have until Election Day to cast their vote.

Algonquin Highlands

  • Thursday September 25, 7 – 9 p.m.

Dysart et al

  • Tuesday September 30, 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Great Hall, Fleming College, Haliburton

Minden Hills

  • Thursday October 2, 7 – 9 p.m.
  • S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre, Minden

Reeves & Deputy-Reeves, Focused on Haliburton County

  • Monday October 6, 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Great Hall, Fleming College, Haliburton
